Ginger Essential Oil (Zingiber Officinale)
Ginger essential oil has a warm, spicy fragrance that is energizing and romantic. Supportive of the digestive system, it is commonly used to combat nausea, vomiting, or dizziness associated with motion sickness and has been studied for its gentle, stimulating effects.*

Body Systems Affected: Digestive and nervous system

Uses: Ginger essential oil can be used for loss of appetite, arthritis, broken bones, colds, colic, congestion, cramps, digestive problems, indigestion, motion sickness, rheumatism, sore throat and sprains. Ginger has also been used for alcoholism.
French medicinal uses include Angina, prevention of contagious disease, diarrhea, flatulence, impotence, rheumatic pain and tonsilitis.

Historical Uses: Ginger has been used in Gingerbread up to 4000 years ago in Greece, in Egyptian cuisine as a spice and in Roman times in wine for it's aphrodisiac powers.. Indians have used it in tea to calm upset stomachs and the Chinese use it in their tonics to strengthen the heart and relive congestion. Hawaiians use it to scent clothing and as a spice. Ginger is also very popular to add to shampoos and lotions.

Properties: Antiseptic, laxative, stimulant, tonic and warming.

Aromatherapy Effects: Ginger essential oil may influence physical energy, sex, love and courage.

Scent: Sweet, spicy, woody, warm, tenacious, fresh and sharp.

How to use: Diffuse. Apply to Vita Flex points and/or directly on area of concern.

Dietary Supplement Uses: When using as a supplement, dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid such as goat's or rice milk or 1 drop in a tsp. of honey. Generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for internal consumptions by the FDA.

Safety: Repeated use can result in contact sensitization. Avoid direct sunlight or UV light for 3 to 6 hours after use. Do not use on children under 6 yrs old. For children 6 years and older use with caution and greater dilution.

Suggested Blending Oils: All spice oils, all citrus oils, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, myrtle, rosemary and spearmint.
