Patchouli Essential Oil (Pogostemon cablin)
Patchouli Essential Oil sometimes called "the scent of the ' 60s," has a musky, earthy,
exotic aroma with sensual properties. In Eastern cultures it is commonly used around
the house to provide general support for health and to help release negative emotions
so that problems can be kept in proportion. It is very beneficial for the skin,
helping to reduce a wrinkled or chapped appearance. Patchouli is a general tonic
that helps with the digestive system and occasional queasiness.*
Most essential oils work best when blended
with each other. The right combination will enhance the effects and power of the
essential oils. For some basic "oil recipes", check out our Recipe page or visit

Eczema Relief
"Patchouli and lavender work great for eczema. My daughter will sometimes get
eczema breakouts on her ear lobes and behind her ears when she wears earrings.
She applies the patchouli and lavender neat, and blended together, to her
earlobes and the back of her ears to heal the skin, it only takes a couple of
applications and the rashes disappear! We found that the patchouli alone works
great, but the smell is too strong for her, so we added the lavender to help
with that."
Rosacea and Allergies
"I have suffered from seasonal allergies and rosacea for several years. Not only
do my eyes itch terribly, but the skin around my eyes and the tops of my cheeks
itch as well. Because of my rosacea the added irritation of the allergies cause
my skin to really burn.
Last night I used 2 drops neat of patchouli, rubbed into the skin below my eyes
and across my cheeks. Within minutes I felt relief. I did the same this morning
when my allergies again flared up and felt the same relif. There is still slight
itching in my eyes, but there is no itching or burning where I applied the
patchouli."
